Contemporaneamente verranno inaugurati due lussuosi hotel l’Orient Express La Minerva a Roma e l’Orient Express Palazzo Donà Giovannelli a Venezia.

Getting on the OrientExpress gives us the thrill of a journey in a journey, an immersive experience that has all the charm and elegance of ancient times. This legendary train began its run in 1883 connecting Paris with Constantinople (today’s Istanbul). But only in the 30s it became an emblem of luxury and comfort thanks to its exclusive carriages and its refined cuisine; it was chosen by royals, nobles, diplomats, businessmen and rich bourgeois who wished to sublimate the art of travel. After periods of splendor and years of oblivion, the architect Maxime d’Angeac has followed a dreamlike vision restoring luster to this legend and writing for the OrientExpress a new splendid destiny. This fabulous project was born from the desire to project the fascinating era of 1920 into the contemporary, reinterpreting the past in a somewhat nostalgic key, but with an eye to the present. Let’s close our eyes and imagine getting on board and sitting in the sumptuous Presidential Suite. Rounded shapes add softness and balance; the windows are like frames that enclose the priceless painting of nature; magic mirrors play with perspectives; the walls are covered in fine wood and leather and are adorned with the original panels “Blackbirds and Grapes” by Lalique, recovered from the carriages of the Nostalgie-Istanbul-Orient Express; the bathroom is decorated with marble. We leave our beautiful suite and walk through the corridors, places of meetings and surprises, which offer a theatrical décor; the ceiling is vaulted and the “floral” lamps are Lalique original lamps. We arrive at the Bar Car that strikes for its spectacular green tones, if we look up we see a large dome in Second Empire style supported by four columns. The all-glass counter is a  modern work of art and on each table there is a clock that rings out the time for cocktails and dinner and a button reserved for champagne service. If we get hungry we move to the dining car, here the motifs of the tapestries are reinterpreted; under a mirrored ceiling, a soft light coming from lampshades illuminates the tables and armchairs; the inlaid panels are the original ones and a glass wall reveals the open kitchen to admire the culinary choreography of the chef and his staff. The history of this spectacular train has been rewritten paying attention to every detail, sublimated by the savoir-faire and talent of the best French craftsmen. Just think that the original carriages were found in 2015 on the border between Belarus and Poland and the Orient Express LaDolce Vita will welcome the first lucky passengers in 2024. At the same time, two luxurious hotel, the Orient Express La Minerva in Rome and the Orient Express Palazzo Donà Giovannelli in Venice, will be inaugurated. It is also planned to open an Orient Express hotel in Riyadh in the near future, all to create a luxurious universe dedicated to the sublimation of travel.
