RM Sotheby’s London auction and the Royal Automobile Club

The Royal Automobile Club of London hosted the annual RM Sotheby’s auction on the occasion of the “London Motor Week”. Among the queens of this auction there were the 2016 LaFerrari and the 1987 Porsche 959 Grand Prix White. LaFerrari, finished in an exquisite one-of-one special order livery of Vinaccia paint over Pelle Chiodi Di Garofano interior, sold for £2,142,500. The engine, a 6.3-liter V-12, is a rear-placed; its seats are little more than Alcantara-swathed pads that are directly attached to the floor and are custom-padded for each individual buyer; the body is low and elegant; the tires are Pirelli P-Zero Corsa; the Brembo carbon ceramic disc brakes are so big. There are only 499 examples, all were purchased by preferred clients before the first LaFerrari was even complete.
The Porsche 959, one of the most remarkable and advanced models ever built by Weissach, is finished in Grand Prix White paint over an interior of dark blue leather and sold for £1,158,125; The car was equipped with heated and electronically adjustable seats, and an alarm system. This pampered Porsche has been gently used in central London for over a decade, becoming a well-known sighting among West End supercar hunters.
