Wine in South Tyrol represents culture, history and identity and for the first time a book will allow us to embark on an immersive journey into this fascinating territory. The South Tyrolean Wine Consortium, in collaboration with the Athesia-Tappeiner publishing house, has produced a volume that tells the story of the South Tyrolean wine world in its complexity and charm, touching on all aspects of it. A fascinating history that began with the Rhaetians and arrived at the Romans and then suffered from medieval monastic influences, the innovations of the nineteenth century up to the revolution that made South Tyrol one of the most renowned wine regions in Europe. The last stage in chronological order was the zoning project, active from the 2024 harvest. It took a few years to collect the voices of 40 authors and put them together to create a rich and complete work that talks about territory, history, production, science, technology, culture and economy of wine. The Consortium was born and works to protect the DOC wines of South Tyrol, guaranteeing their quality, supporting the approximately 4,800 producers, creating a unified image and presence on the markets. To celebrate this book, the beautiful setting of Palazzo Bagatti Valsecchi was chosen in the presence of Andreas Kofler, President of the Consortium, and Eduard Bernhart, Director of the Consortium. A special opportunity to taste some of the emblematic South Tyrolean wine labels to discover and savor the essence of this extraordinary wine territory.
