“Buon vento e mare calmo”.
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Eleanor Roosevelt.
The launch of Baglietto’s new T60 shows us that by believing in our dreams, we can design our future. Looking toward the horizon, even if it seems empty, we will always find a goal to reach. This vessel was the realization of a dream, both for the one who dreamed of it and for those who built it. Building a boat is an ancient ritual rooted in the mists of time, because man has always seen the sea as a great communication route that connects people, allows us to discover new worlds, experience fantastic adventures, and admire the boundless beauty that this marvelous expanse of blue offers us.
It was a sartorial process that began with the design and culminated in the final result, like creating a bespoke suit. As Guglielmo Marconi said, “The secret is to find the most elegant path, not the most complicated.” Although crafting a hull that reflects the light, defys the wind, and perfectly reflects the desires of those who imagined it was quite a challenge, with a touch of madness. Everything was studied down to the smallest detail by a mosaic of expert craftsmen so that even what is invisible works perfectly, just as invisible stitching allows a dress to last over time.
Participating in the launch of hull no. 10260 was a thrill and shows how behind the creation of this, the largest vessel ever built by Baglietto, lies a network that for many years has provided employment for countless people, creating a significant business and international prestige for a splendid region like Liguria. The first model of the T60 was designed by Francesco Paszkowski Design, who, together with Margherita Casprini, also designed the interiors. This important event was attended by the shipowner himself, along with family and friends, the shipyard’s top management, the Gavio Group, owner of the brand, and numerous civil, regional, and military authorities. These included Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Edoardo Rixi, President of the Liguria Region Marco Bucci, accompanied by Councilor for Civil Protection Giacomo Raul Giampedrone, Mayor of La Spezia Pierluigi Peracchini, Prefect Andrea Cantadori, and Police Commissioner Sebastiano Salvo, several Armed Forces officials, as well as Lorena Bianchetti, patroness of the shipyard’s 170th anniversary.
After proud speeches by the shipyard’s management, the Mayor of La Spezia, and the President of the Region, tenor Amadi Lagha performed the Mameli Anthem while two children raised the Italian and European flags. The priest blessed the vessel, the godmother, as is tradition, broke the bottles, and a thousand confetti in the colors of the Italian flag exploded in the sky. Once the owner cut the ribbon, the megayacht was gently lowered into the water, and as it touched the surface, the sirens began to sound. Guests were then invited to enjoy a sumptuous buffet.
Since young people represent the future Baglietto envisions, the shipyard dedicated a creative competition to them on the theme of the sea, organized with the support of the Municipality of La Spezia and Confindustria La Spezia. The contest will conclude on May 23, World Boating Day, when the students’ projects will be presented and rewarded with vouchers for educational materials.
The T60 represents an innovative and cutting-edge reinterpretation of the T52. The hull boasts soft, sleek lines thanks to the powerful, lightened sides that appear almost “suspended.” The distinctive black glass band encompasses the portholes, creating a now-famous leitmotif in Baglietto’s most recent creations. The innovative layout eliminates the boundaries between interior and exterior, and the full-height windows, which can be fully opened and retracted, transform the spaces into dynamic spaces that continuously engage with the sea. The approximately 60 square meter beach lounge with a pool, bar, conversation area, and gym welcomes guests upon arrival and leads them to the main salon via a dramatic open staircase. The result is a two-level space of almost 100 square meters, complemented by the dining room with a fully opening glass window, creating an extraordinary living area at water level.
The owner requested the entire upper deck for himself, accessed via a glass elevator. The suite features an office, a walk-in closet, and a large bathroom with separate toilets. The sleeping area is surrounded by windows that open on three sides, leading directly to the private pool forward. Aft, the lounge area opens onto an outdoor dining table, while a hot tub and a large sunbathing area complete this exclusive deck.
Five guest cabins are dedicated to guests, while all on board have access to a massage room and a large galley equipped for fine dining. The garage, located forward on the main deck, can accommodate a 23-foot tender, two jet skis, and a rescue tender. A touch-and-go helipad is also located forward. The T60 is powered by twin CAT 3512 engines, allowing for a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots.
“Fair winds and calm seas.”.
