Il mare a Viste

La nostra penisola è ricca di luoghi meravigliosi e l’estate ci permette di scoprire i tesori delle nostre coste. Tra queste c’è il Gargano dove sorge la città di Vieste con le sue bellissime spiagge. Una delle più affascinanti è quella del Castello su cui si affaccia il centro storico medioevale di Vieste. Qui si erge un bianco monolite calcareo chiamato Pizzomunno. La leggenda racconta che si tratti in realtà di un giovane marinaio pietrificato dal dolore, le sirene infatti, invidiose del suo amore per la bella Cristalda, rapirono la ragazza portandola in fondo al mare. Si dice che la giovane torni ogni cento anni per ricongiungersi con il suo amato che tornerebbe umano per questa unica notte d’amore. Una famosa canzone di Max Gazzè, presentata a San Remo nel 2018, si intitola proprio “la leggenda di Pizzomunno e Cristalda”.

Our peninsula is full of wonderful places and summer allows us to discover the treasures of our coasts. Among these there is the Gargano where the city of Vieste rises with its beautiful beaches. One of the most fascinating beach is the Castle beach overlooking the medieval historic center of Vieste. Here stands a white limestone monolith called Pizzomunno. A Legend tells that it was a young sailor petrified by pain, the sirens in fact, envious of his love for the beautiful Cristalda, kidnapped the girl taking her to the bottom of the sea. It is said that the young woman returns every hundred years to be reunited with her love who would return human for this one night of love. A famous song of Max Gazzè, presented in San Remo in 2018, is entitled “the legend of Pizzomunno and Cristalda”.
