Ancora una volta le magiche rive del Lago di Como hanno fatto da cornice a una nuova indimenticabili edizione dell’esclusivo Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, l’evento di auto d’epoca più prestigioso e iconico al mondo. Una favolosa varietà di veicoli dal fascino irresistibile ha ammaliato gli ospiti, giunti da tutto il mondo e i rappresentanti della stampa internazionale.
L’Alfa Romeo Tipo B (P3) del 1934 ha vinto il concorso. Questa vettura fu progettata dal geniale Vittorio Jano ed è stata una delle prime vere monoposto da corsa. Il proprietario ha ricevuto il prestigioso premio “Trofeo BMW Group – Best of Show” da Helmut Käs, Responsabile di BMW Group Classic e Presidente del Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, e da Wilhelm Schmid, CEO di A. Lange und Söhne. Oltre allo splendido trofeo, il vincitore ha ricevuto un modello unico del Cronografo 1815 in oro bianco, l’esclusivo orologio creato da A. Lange und Söhne appositamente per il vincitore del “Best of Show”.
La “Coppa d’Oro Villa d’Este”, assegnata tramite referendum pubblico, è stata vinta dalla BMW 507 del 1957. Il suo design elegante e perfettamente bilanciato, abbinato a un motore V8 da 3,2 litri, l’ha resa un’icona dell’ingegneria automobilistica e rimane ancora ancora oggi una delle più grandi icone BMW.
Il week end è iniziato con il BMW Group Cocktail durante il quale abbiamo assistito all’anteprima mondiale della BMW M2 CS, della BMW Concept Speedtop e della BMW Motorrad Concept RR.
Negli splendidi giardini si è festeggiato il 70° anniversario della BMW 507 e il centenario della prima Phantom creata da Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. In esposizione per l’occasione la Rolls-Royce Phantom Goldfinger, un capolavoro unico presente nel famosissimo film di James Bond del 1964.
Il sabato il raduno “Amici & Automobili – Wheels & Weisswürscht” ha riunito appassionati di automobili leggendarie e numerosi appassionati di club automobilistici BMW, oltre a club di altri marchi dell’Europa settentrionale e centrale, nell’ampio parco di Villa Erba. Si è celebrato anche il 50° anniversario della leggendaria serie 3 con l’esposizione di modelli e con un’asta indipendente, organizzata esclusivamente per BMW e curata dal suo nuovo partner Broad Arrow Auctions.
Una speciale mostra ha celebrato gli 85 anni delle “BMW Mille Miglia Icons” e sono state esposte le vetture originali sopravvissute che hanno ottenuto una gloriosa vittoria alla Mille Miglia per BMW nel 1940. Tra le altre l’Art Car n. 13 di Sandro Chia (una BMW M3 GTR artisticamente impressionante). Si è festeggiato inoltre il 70° anniversario della BMW Isetta a tre ruote e presentato l’evento “Concept Car e Prototipi”.
Al termine della sfilata di domenica, Helmut Käs (Responsabile di BMW Group Classic e Presidente del Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este) e Massimiliano di Silvestre (Presidente di BMW Italia) hanno consegnato il ricavato della vendita dei biglietti di sabato e una quota aggiuntiva donata da BMW Group Classic a Matteo Monti (Sindaco di Cernobbio) per contribuire a due asili nido della città.

Once again, the magical shores of Lake Como were the backdrop to another unforgettable edition of the exclusive Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the most prestigious and iconic classic car event in the world. A fabulous array of vehicles with an irresistible charm captivated guests from all over the world and representatives of the international press. The 1934 Alfa Romeo Tipo B (P3) won the competition. This car was designed by the ingenious Vittorio Jano and was one of the first true single-seater racing cars. The owner received the prestigious “Trofeo BMW Group – Best of Show” award from Helmut Käs, Head of BMW Group Classic and President of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, and Wilhelm Schmid, CEO of A. Lange und Söhne. In addition to the splendid trophy, the winner received a unique model of the Chronograph 1815 in white gold, the exclusive watch created by A. Lange und Söhne especially for the winner of the “Best of Show”.
The “Coppa d’Oro Villa d’Este”, awarded by public referendum, was won by the BMW 507 from 1957. Its elegant and perfectly balanced design, combined with a 3.2-litre V8 engine, made it an icon of automotive engineering and remains one of the greatest BMW icons to this day.
The weekend began with the BMW Group Cocktail, where we witnessed the world premiere of the BMW M2 CS, the BMW Concept Speedtop and the BMW Motorrad Concept RR. The 70th anniversary of the BMW 507 and the 100th anniversary of the first Phantom created by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars were celebrated in the beautiful gardens. On display for the occasion was the Rolls-Royce Phantom Goldfinger, a unique masterpiece featured in the world-famous 1964 James Bond film.
On Saturday, the “Amici & Automobili – Wheels & Weisswürscht” gathering brought together enthusiasts of legendary automobiles and numerous enthusiasts from BMW car clubs, as well as clubs of other brands from Northern and Central Europe, in the spacious park of Villa Erba. The 50th anniversary of the legendary 3 Series was also celebrated with a display of models and a stand-alone auction, organised exclusively for BMW and curated by its new partner Broad Arrow Auctions.
A special exhibition celebrated 85 years of the “BMW Mille Miglia Icons” and showcased the surviving original cars that achieved a glorious Mille Miglia victory for BMW in 1940. Among others, Sandro Chia’s Art Car No. 13 (an artistically impressive BMW M3 GTR). The 70th anniversary of the three-wheeled BMW Isetta was also celebrated and the “Concept Cars and Prototypes” event was presented.
At the end of Sunday’s parade, Helmut Käs (Head of BMW Group Classic and President of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este) and Massimiliano di Silvestre (President of BMW Italia) handed over the proceeds from Saturday’s ticket sales and an additional amount donated by BMW Group Classic to Matteo Monti (Mayor of Cernobbio) to contribute to two nurseries in the city. A unique event that allows us to live a vibrant experience that combines tradition and timeless elegance, with class, design and engineering in a unique and inspiring setting. Year after year, the success of the event lies in the unique cars exhibited, together with the emotion and passion shared by generations of motor enthusiasts.
