L’elegante ed esclusiva Casa Maria Luigia, di proprietà dello chef Massimo Bottura e di sua moglie Laura hanno fatto da perfetta cornice  al più importante concorso di eleganza al mondo dedicato alle Ferrari d’epoca, Palm Beach Cavallino Classic, per il terzo anno. L’idea di organizzare qui Cavallino Classic Modena è venuta per rendere omaggio alla città natale di Enzo Ferrari, alle bellissime ville che soleva frequentare negli anni ’30 e all’eccellenza gastronomica del territorio. Una Giuria Internazionale, composta anche da giudici americani, ha valutato attentamente le vetture partecipanti per assegnare loro i prestigiosi premi. “Quello che facciamo in cucina è esattamente quello che fa la Ferrari quando costruisce le sue auto. Prendiamo il meglio del passato, guardandolo in chiave critica e mai nostalgica, e lo portiamo nel futuro.” Massimo Bottura

Hanno partecipato 32 Ferrari suddivise in tre Classi: Dodici Cilindri Classiche, Dodici Cilindri moderne e contemporanee e Modelli da Competizione. Volendo citarne solo alcuni possiamo menzionare la 500 TR Sport Scaglietti, telaio #0610 MDTR, del 1956; la 312 P telaio #0886, vettura ufficiale della Scuderia, pilotata da Ronnie Peterson e Tim Schenken; le 12 Cilindri della serie 250, la 250 California del 1958 telaio #1057GT, la 250 Berlinetta “SWB” del 1962 telaio #3169 e la 250 GT Lusso del 1964 con telaio #5735. Gioielli che hanno fatto battere il cuore degli appassionati e dei collezionisti. La sera di venerdì 12 Maggio si è tenuta la cena inaugurale nel giardino della villa. Il sabato le auto sono state esaminate dalla giuria e gli ospiti le hanno potuto ammirare in tutta la loro bellezza e degustare un delizioso pranzo prima di vederle partire alla volta di Modena. Qui hanno sfilato per le vie della città per la gioia dei tanti visitatori giunti in occasione della Motor Valley Fest. La sera, in occasione della cena di gala preparata da Massimo Bottura con i piatti più iconici dell’Osteria Francescana, sono stati proclamati i premiati dei Best of Show.

I vincitori sono stati: per il Best of Show Gran Turismo la Ferrari 410 Superamerica del 1959, chassis 1305, presentata da Kevin Cogan; per il Best of Show Competitions la Ferrari 212 Export del 1951, telaio #0080E, che fu del Principe Vittorio Massimo, qui presentata da Brian Ross; il Best of Show Vetture Certificate Ferrari Classiche la Ferrari 250 Berlinetta passo lungo (Tour de France) del 1957, chassis 0677, presentata da un collezionista privato. La domenica le vetture sono partite per un percorso lungo le strade dell’Appennino Emiliano che le ha portate a Quattro Castella e a Casa Canossa, sede di Canossa Events, dove la manifestazione ha avuto la sua conclusione, dando appuntamento al prossimo anno.

Grazie alla partecipazione della Casa d’Aste RM Sotheby’s, durante la cena di gala, è stato battuto un originale poster raffigurante ogni auto in concorso con la firma del loro proprietario. Il ricavato è stato devoluto per contribuire al progetto del Policlinico di Modena di dotare il reparto pediatrico di un’apparecchiatura capace di ridurre l’impatto traumatico della radioterapia sui bambini.

The elegant and exclusive Casa Maria Luigia, owned by the Chef Massimo Bottura and his wife Laura, was the perfect setting for the most important elegance competition in the world dedicated to vintage Ferraris, Palm Beach Cavallino Classic, for the third year. The idea of organizing Cavallino Classic Modena here wants to pay homage to the birthplace of Enzo Ferrari, to the beautiful villas he used to frequent in the 30s and to the gastronomic excellence of the territory. An International Jury, also composed of American judges, carefully evaluated the participating cars to award them the prestigious prizes. “What we do in the kitchen is the same as what Ferrari does when it builds its cars. We take the very best of the past, consider it critically, but never in a nostalgic way, and then bring it into the future.” Massimo Bottura. 32 Ferraris participated divided into three classes: Twelve Classic Cylinders, Modern and Contemporary Twelve Cylinders and Racing Models. We can mention the 1956 500 TR Sport Scaglietti, chassis #0610 MDTR; the 1972 312 P chassis #0886, the official works car that, driven by Ronnie Peterson and Tim Schenken; the 250 Series 12 cylinders in attendance will include the 1958 250 California #1057GT chassis, the 1962 250 Berlinetta “SWB” chassis #3169 and the 1964 250 GT Lusso with chassis #5735. On Saturday the cars were examined by the jury and the guests were able to admire them in all their beauty and enjoy a delicious lunch before seeing them leave for Modena. Here they paraded through the streets of the city to the delight of the many visitors who came for the Motor Valley Fest. In the evening, the winners of the Best of Show were announced on the occasion of the gala dinner prepared by Massimo Bottura with the most iconic dishes of Osteria Francescana. The winners were: for the Best of Show Gran Turismo the 1959 Ferrari 410 Superamerica, chassis 1305, presented by Kevin Cogan; for the Best of Show Competitions the 1951 Ferrari 212 Export, chassis #0080E, which belonged to Prince Vittorio Massimo, presented by Brian Ross; the Best of Show Ferrari Certified Classic Cars the 1957 Ferrari 250 Berlinetta Long Wheelbase (Tour de France), chassis 0677, presented by a private collector. On Sunday the cars left for a route along the roads of the Emilian Apennines to Quattro Castella and Casa Canossa, home of Canossa Events, where the event had its conclusion, giving appointment to next year. Thanks to the participation of the Auction House RM Sotheby’s, during the gala dinner, an original poster featuring each car in competition accompanied by the signature of their owner was auctioned. The proceeds were donated to contribute to the project of the Policlinico di Modena to equip the pediatric department with equipment to reduce the traumatic impact of radiotherapy on children.
