Beware of Blast

The bursting force of the nature is channeled and then released in a magnetic and exciting intensity way. The evocative blue glaciers at the ends of the planet and the big volcanoes at the Pacific Islands are the wild and dangerous expression of a nature that has always fascinated and instilled fear all of us. The glowing lava comes out overbearing and violent from the center of the earth and then turns into a solid black magma. The crystal water of the deep oceans is transformed into ice by the rigorous temperatures of the Poles, creating white and inhospitable mountains. These two extreme realities take the form of a vigorous watch with a slender, sharp and muscular design that was modeled on a stealth aircraft. Ulysse Nardin took up the geometric, pointed lines of the aligned edges and the serrated triangular patterns created by aeronautical and military engineers to make these airplanes invisible to radar and deflect radio waves and carried them on this watch. The smooth but muscular aerodynamics are reminiscent of the sharp rocks of the volcanos. Light penetrates the transparent body creating suggestive games of light and shadow. The result is an otherworldly effect and the iconic “X” becomes double and are in a rectangle placed inside a circle. A small, but powerful platinum micro-rotor is added to the SKELETON collection, visible only from the front at 12 o’clock. There are three variants of straps: durable rubber, alligator, and velvet. We can choose 4 variants: ICE (WHITE BLAST), it takes up the atmosphere of the Antarctic. The white, metallic grey and dark blue ceramic is enriched with wonderful transparencies just like a frozen lake. The dark blue “Ulysse Nardin” logo is featured prominently on the rectangular frame and the dark blue color on the sculpted indexes and hands. FIRE (ROSE GOLD BLAST) it is forged from one of the most precious metals on Earth, this model features a black DLC middle case and solid gold horns, black ceramic bezel, a bicolor tourbillon cage rose gold colored and black PVD. FIRE (BLACK BLAST) comes complete with a ceramic upper middle case and bezel; black rectangular bridge, red and black double “X” pattern and a stunning new red balance wheel – the first time that Ulysse Nardin has ever developed a colored balance wheel. The geometric horns are fully polished and sandblasted for a matte-finish. ICE (BLUE BLAST). Cool blue like the inside of an iceberg, the BLUE BLAST has a titanium middle case, blue titanium bezel, blue brass rectangular bridge, blue tourbillon cage, blue and grey double “X” pattern, metallic grey sculpted hands. To embody this volatile life force, Ulysse Nardin is partnering with Carsten Peter, a nature photographer and storyteller of the Xtreme.
