1962 Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato at RM Sotheby’s Auction

Domani avrà inizio la prestigiosa asta di RM Sotheby’s  Monterey e i riflettori si accendono sulla splendida Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato del 1962. Un capolavoro che nacque dalla collaborazione tra la casa britannica e Zagato con lo scopo di avere una supremazia decisiva in pista rispetto a Ferrari. Bellezza raffinata, ma aggressiva, prestazioni sorprendenti divenuta il fiore all’occhiello di Aston Martin e parte della collezione di Paul Andrews.

Un esemplare della DB4GT/0190/L, il penultimo costruito, fu commissionato dal comandante della Marina degli Stati Uniti James Murray che la volle in color Shell Grey, con un calibro leggermente più pesante per essere più robusto, finestrini in vetro, serramenti in ottone cromato e una griglia disegnata da lui stesso. Ha avuto diversi proprietari e qualche restauro ed è una delle più grandi automobili ad alte prestazioni mai realizzate. ($11,000,000 – $14,000,000 USD)

Tomorrow the prestigious RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction will begin and the spotlight will turn on the splendid 1962 Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato. A masterpiece born from the collaboration between Aston Martin and Zagato with the aim of having a decisive supremacy on the battle between Aston Martin and Ferrari for the World Sports Car Championship. This car is refined beauty, but aggressive, has surprising performance and became the flagship of Aston Martin and part of the collection of Paul Andrews. One of the DB4GT/0190/L, the penultimate built, was commissioned by the commander of the United States Navy James Murray who wanted it in Shell Grey color, slightly heavier gauge of aluminum than standard, so as to be more robust, glass door windows, chromed brass window frames and a grille designed by himself. It has had several owners and some restoration and is one of the largest high-performance cars ever made. ($11,000,000 – $14,000,000 USD)
