Villa D’Este sempre bellissima

Durante questi giorni il sole ci ha regalato splendide giornate, almeno al nord, così chi qualcuno è partito per una breve vacanza, qualcun altro si è goduto una gita “fuori porta”. Il Lago di Como è stata una delle mete più amate. Come non innamorarsi di questo panorama e delle sue stupende strutture alberghiere, una di queste è l’iconica ed esclusiva Villa D’Este.
Fu costruita nel 1568 per volere del Cardinale Tolomeo Gallio; fu poi ereditata dal nipote, il Duca di Alvito che la arricchì con giardini in stile rinascimentale e opere d’arte. La fama della villa attirò molti illustri personaggi tra i quali il Sultano del Marocco.
Nel 1815 venne acquistata da Carolina di Brunswick, Principessa di Galles, e sposa del Re Giorgio IV d’Inghilterra, fu lei a chiamarla Villa d’Este. Architetti e pittori si dedicarono al suo decoro con lavori unici come la statua di Venere incoronata da Eros, attribuita al Canova. Fu nel 1873 che divenne hotel di lusso e scelta, tra gli altri, da Onassis e la Callas, Rita Hayworth e Orson Welles, Elizabeth Taylor e Nick Hilton, Frank Sinatra e Ava Gardner, il Duca e la Duchessa di Windsor.
