Nel 1840 Mr William Sparks Thomson, figlio di un creatore di corsetti, sentì l’esigenza di inventare del sale profumato a base di lavanda per far rinvenire le clienti del padre, svenute a causa dei corsetti troppo stretti. Fu poi presto creata una linea di profumi extra concentrati. Questi raffinati profumi divennero così ricercati dall’élite che la regina Vittoria, la loro cliente più famosa, concesse l’uso dell’immagine della sua corona sulle bottiglie di profumo. Nel 1912, i prodotti della Crown Perfumery erano segnati nel registro delle cabine di prima classe del Titanic. Chiusa per un periodo, riapri nel 1989 e si dice che “Alpine Lily”, fosse una delle fragranze preferite dalla principessa Diana. Si narra che Clive Christian, mentre passeggiava attraverso il Burlington Arcade, rimase affascinato dalla Crown Perfumery al punto da acquistarla e regalarne nuova vita.

In 1840 Mr William Sparks Thomson, the son of a corset maker, felt the need to invent a lavender-scented salt to recover his father’s clients, who had fainted because of the corsets that were too tight. A line of extra concentrated perfumes was soon created. These refined scents became the Queen Victoria favourite scents, she granted the use of the her crown image on perfume bottles. In 1912, Crown Perfumery’s products were marked in the Titanic’s first-class cabin register. Closed for a period, reopened in 1989 and the “Alpine Lily”, was one of Princess Diana’s favorite fragrances. A day Clive Christian, while walking through the Burlington Arcade, was fascinated by the Crown Perfumery and he decided to buy it and give it a new life.
