A Varenna trova l’Hotel Royal Vittoria, il cui nome è un omaggio alla Regina Vittoria d’Inghilterra che vi soggiornò nel 1838, anno in cui una vecchia filanda fu trasformata in hotel. Si narra che Charles Gounod, famoso musicista e compositore, in una delle sale dell’hotel fu ispirato alla composizione della sua ‘Ave Maria’ mentre ammirava i tramonti sul lago. Restaurato nel 2000 l’Hotel dispone dei miglior servizi e comforts e gli ambienti sono luminosi, accoglienti e raffinati.

In Varenna there is also the Hotel Royal Vittoria, whose name is a tribute to the Queen Victoria of England who stayed there in 1838, at this time an old spinning mill was transformed into a hotel. Sempre a Varenna si trova Villa Cipressi, un complesso costituito da edifici e giardini ricchi di storia. Fu di proprietà della nobile famiglia Serponti (1163), del Barone Isimbaldi (fine ‘700), della famiglia Andreossi, che ne curò in particolare il Parco, di Sir Astley e Sir Salton (primi ‘900), dell’editore Accame e nel 1980 fu acquistata dai Varennesi e amici di Varenna per essere destinata ad uso pubblico. Oggi è gestita sapientemente dal Gruppo R Collection Hotels che ne ha curato le opere di restauro.

Queste tre strutture sono parte del il gruppo R Collection Hotels e di proprietà della Famiglia Rocchi di Como.

Also in Varenna there is Villa Cipressi, a complex of buildings and gardens rich in history.
