Dolce risveglio

Al mio risveglio ho aperto le finestre e una dorata luce illuminava le rive del lago e mi è subito venuto in mente il detto “il mattino ha l’oro in bocca”. Questo modo di dire ha due origini una più storica facendolo derivare dal latino “Aurora Musis amica est” (L’alba è amica delle Muse), l’altra più legata al folklore. In Sicilia si usava nascondere nella bocca di uno dei mascheroni delle fontane del paese uno gioiello d’oro la notte prima della festa di fidanzamento della figlia maggiore. Così la mattina seguente tutte le ragazze nubili del paese si mettevano in cerca del gioiello, chi di loro l’avesse trovato per prima si sarebbe presto fidanzata. Io invece del gioiello mi sono concessa un calice di champagne per brindare all’inizio di questo nuovo giorno, poi sono scesa nella raffinata sala per la colazione nella quale ho trovato un tripudio di leccornie. When I woke up I opened the windows and a golden light illuminated the shores of the lake and I immediately thought of the saying “the morning has gold in its mouth”. This saying has two origins, one more historical, making it derive from the Latin “Aurora Musis amica est” (Dawn is a friend of the Muses), the other more linked to folklore. In Sicily it was customary to hide a golden jewel in the mouth of one of the masks of the fountains of the village the night before the engagement party of the eldest daughter. So the next morning all the unmarried girls of the village went in search of the jewel, who of them had found it first would soon get engaged. Instead of jewelry, I allowed myself a glass of champagne to toast the beginning of this new day, then I went down to the refined breakfast room where I found a riot of delicacies. Good day to all 🙂
