Ci sono luoghi incantati nei quali sembra di essere i protagonisti di una favola. Uno di questi è l’incantevole borgo di Eze, un antico villaggio arroccato su un costone di roccia a picco sul mare. Qui le antiche mura dei palazzi sono vivacizzati da piante fiorite, vecchie anfore e fregi e gli stretti vicoli ci portano a scoprire nuove botteghe e gallerie d’arte là dove un tempo c’erano stalle e ovili. Un luogo ricco di magia che incantò anche Walt Disney che qui usava trascorrere parte delle sue vacanze. La visita ad EZE non può non comprendere la fascinosa fabbrica di profumi Fragonard E il Giardino botanico.

In questo borgo sorge un antico maniero, divenuto oggi uno degli hotel più esclusivi. Una volta che si è aperto il maestoso cancello si è pervasi dalla rigogliosa natura; i sentieri, percorsi un tempo dagli asini, sono circondati da fichi, carrubi, olive, mandarini, gelsomini e buganvillea e arricchiti di statue, fontane e opere d’arte. Storia, leggende e amore si fondono donando a questo luogo un’atmosfera magica.

Gli abitanti del villaggio raccontano che la Chèvre d’Or deve il nome al suo originario proprietario, un contadino che allevava caprini e ne vendeva il latte al mercato di Nizza. I profitti in monete d’oro venivano nascoste in un muro di pietra. Si dice che questo tesoro fu ritrovato nel momento della ristrutturazione.

Tra gli ospiti più famosi si annoverano: Lauren Bacall, Marlene Dietrich, Elisabeth Taylor, Marisa Berenson, Humphrey Bogart, Roger Moore, Tony Curtis, Clint Eastwood, Robert De Niro e Leonardo Di Caprio.

La cucina è un omaggio alla tradizione della cucina locale con audaci accostamenti tra la terra e il mare ed è affidata allo chef Arnaud Faye.

The villagers say that the Chèvre d’Or owes its name to its original owner, a farmer who raised goats and sold their milk at the Nice market. Profits in gold coins were hidden in a stone wall. Someone says that this treasure was found when the castle was renovated.
