Castelbrando

Una bottiglia di vino ci narra del territorio nel quale crescono le sue uve, della storia di quei luoghi, dell’arte che li caratterizza, delle persone che lo abitano e della famiglia che con passione lo crea. Così per capire ed apprezzare appieno ciò che beviamo è fondamentale conoscerne le sue origini. La famiglia Biasiotto di Foss Marai mi ha accompagnata alla scoperta del territorio nel quale nascono i suoi vini, mostrandomene alcune eccellenze per regalarmi un’esperienza emozionale a tutto tondo che voglio condividere con voi.

Iniziamo la nostra avventura a CastelBrando, uno dei più antichi e grandi castelli d’Europa, in questa magica dimora si fa un viaggio nel tempo vivendo in prima persona la storia. Le antiche mure racchiudono tesori, armature e stendardi e dalla terrazza si gode di una bellissima vista sulle colline del Prosecco, da poco divenute Patrimonio Unesco.

Le stanze dell’ala cinquecentesca e settecentesca, tutte diverse tra loro e arredate con mobili d’epoca, sono state restaurate sotto la supervisione dei Beni Culturali. Le Junior Suite sono in stile veneziano e impreziosite da stucchi originali, lampadari in vetro di Murano e pregiati pavimenti. L’appartamento più nobile del castello, un tempo alloggio privato dei conti Brandolini, ha un prezioso lampadario veneziano del ‘600 e una vasca da bagno ricavata da un unico blocco di marmo. Si può vivere anche la fiabesca esperienza di pernottare nella torre medievale il cui nome è in onore di Gaia, figlia prediletta del signore medievale Gherardo da Caminoche che abitò nel castello, entrambi sono citati da Dante nella Divina Commedia.

Nell’ala più antica del castello, tra reperti romani e affascinanti mosaici, ci si può concedere un momento di benessere nella suggestiva Principessa Gaia Spa.

A bottle of wine tells us about the territory in which its grapes grow, the history of those places, the art that characterizes them, the people who live there and the family that passionately creates it. So to fully understand and appreciate what we drink it is essential to know its origins. The Biasiotto family of the Foss Marai winery accompanied me to discover the territory in which its wines are born, showing me some excellences to give me an all-round emotional experience and I want to share it with you. We start our adventure in CastelBrando, one of the oldest and largest castles in Europe, in this magical residence we take a journey through time experiencing history firsthand. The ancient walls contain treasures, armor and banners and from the terrace we can enjoy a beautiful view of the Prosecco hills, recently become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The rooms of the sixteenth-century and eighteenth-century wing, all different and furnished with ancient furniture, have been restored under the supervision of the Cultural Heritage. The Junior Suites are in Venetian style and embellished with original stucco, Murano glass chandeliers and precious floors. The noblest apartment of the castle, once the private apartment of the Counts Brandolini, has a ‘600 precious Venetian chandelier and a bathtub made from a single block of marble. We can choose the fairytale experience of staying in the medieval tower whose name is in honor of Gaia, the favorite daughter of the medieval lord Gherardo da Caminoche who lived in the castle, both are mentioned in the Divine Comedy. In the oldest wing of the castle, among Roman finds and fascinating mosaics, we can enjoy a moment of well-being in the suggestive Princess Gaia Spa.
