Canova experience

Foss Marai ci ha accompagnato alla scoperta di un luogo dal fascino maestoso che con la luce dell’imbrunire acquista un aspetto ancora più magico. Le terre nelle quali crescono le uve che danno vita ai loro pregiati vini  hanno dato i natali a uno degli artisti divenuti leggenda, Antonio Canova. La sua capacità di scultore lo portò a plasmare il marmo in maniera magistrale e vibrante. Lo stesso Canova progettò il Tempio che domina Possagno e che poi fu finito grazie alla dedizione del fratello. Questo tempio è divenuto la chiesa parrocchiale del paese, consacrata alla SS. Trinità, e in essa vi sono conservate le spoglie del maestro.

La visita ci fa scoprire l’uomo che fu Antonio Canova e di come fosse indissolubile il suo legame con il suo paese d’origine e come questo amore fosse ricambiato.

Discendendo dalla collina si arriva al Museo a lui dedicato. Ormai le luci della sera avvolgono ogni cosa e la porta d’ingresso si dischiude solo per noi. Quasi in punta di piedi entriamo nel  patio di quella che fu la sua casa e a lume di candela, così come avveniva ai suoi tempi, veniamo accompagnati alla scoperta delle sue opere in gesso, quelle che poi diedero vita ai suoi capolavori. Seguiamo la tremolante e calda luce che a poco a poco ci fa intravedere i particolari di queste meraviglie. La morbidezza delle forme, la dolcezza degli sguardi e delle pose, la trasparenza delle velate vesti si mostrano a noi in tutta la loro bellezza ed è quasi come il Canova fosse lì a mostrarci le sue creazioni.

Dopo questa emozionante visitiamo la sua casa natale e il giardino con alberi secolari ascoltando aneddoti di una vita che fu. Poi dopo che i nostri occhi si sono beati di tanto splendore ci godiamo un fresco calice di Marai di Marai, un vino pregiato che ci narra una storia di amore, rispetto e legame profondo con il territorio perché nasce grazie al recupero di vitigni storici.

Foss Marai accompanied us to discover a very majestic charm place; it acquires an even more magical appearance thanks to the light of dusk. The lands in which the grapes that give life to the Foss Marai fine wines grow have given birth to one of the legendary artists, Antonio Canova. His ability as a sculptor led him to shape marble in a masterful and vibrant way. Canova designed the Temple that dominates Possagno and it was finished thanks to the dedication of his brother. This temple has become the parish church of the village, consecrated to the Holy Trinity, and in it are preserved the his mortal remains. The visit makes us discover the man and his indissoluble bond with his country and how this love was reciprocated. Descending from the hill we arrive at the Canova Museum. The evening lights envelop everything and the front door opens only for us. Almost on tiptoe we enter the patio of his house and by candlelight, as it happened in his time, we are accompanied to the discovery of his art works, those was transformed in his masterpieces. We follow the flickering and warm light that gradually gives us a glimpse of the details of these wonders. The softness of the shapes, the sweetness of the looks and poses, the transparency of the veiled clothes show themselves to us in all their beauty and it is almost like Canova was there with us. After this emotions we visit his home and the garden with ancient trees listening to anecdotes of his life. Now our eyes are blessed with so much splendor and we are ready to enjoy a fresh glass of Marai di Marai, a fine wine that tells us a story of love, respect and deep bond with the territory because it born thanks to the recovery of historical vines.
