Beyond The Icon MARILYN MONROE

Feminine, independent, charismatic, beautiful, and yet fragile. The woman behind the legend is told through beautiful photographs. Bernard of Hollywood recounts her rise to stardom, Sam Shaw’s lens reveals the humanity behind her public image, and Milton H. Greene’s shots definitively establish her as a timeless icon. This project was commissioned by GUESS, which has always seen her as a muse. The brand’s first pair of jeans was dedicated to her, as is the imagery of its campaigns. The jeans Marilyn Monroe wore in the film “The Misfits” inspired Paul Marciano to reinvent denim as a symbol of sensuality. The exhibition opening during Milan Fashion Week provided the perfect opportunity to preview the Marilyn Capsule by GUESS, a collection that draws on this iconic legacy and reinterprets its aesthetic codes with a contemporary twist. Vintage prints and retro references blend with contemporary details, creating a balance between memory and modernity.
